As the new line of electric cars rolls onto the market, many
budget conscious (broke) consumers may regrettably look into their wallets,
gaze into crystal balls, or consult the stars to see that a brand new electric
car isn’t in their near future. America expects to have 1.5 million cars by
2015, while on the other side of the world, China expects to have 100 million
charging stations by the same year. Is there nothing the lowly enthusiast can
do to join this brave new world?
Luckily, there is. You can have an electric car right-Now.
Or for the budget conscious individual, after a few paychecks. With a little
technical know-how, you can create your own, or convert an existing vehicle. If
you’re not fortunate enough to have such know-how bring a friend who does. You
can have an electric car for $800, half of which is the cost of registration
and paperwork. The site below shows you how the author converted an old yugo to
run on batteries.
The motor is small, at 5HP, it can travel 35 mph, though
only travels 13 miles, but it’s cheap and functional.
For a more DIY approach, you can build a 2 person vehicle in 14 hours. The following website gives advice on several vehicles, but I like the idea of building a functional vehicle in 14 hours.
It uses two 1.5HP motors, travels 28 mph, with a range of 25
miles—a better range than the above vehicle (calculated for two passengers).
Part of that reason it can travel so far is that the vehicle only weighs 180
lbs.
For those of you looking for a more serious project the
following site gives some very helpful tips for the budding enthusiast. The end
result won’t be as cheap or quick as the above projects, but if you follow
through, you’ll have a more satisfying end product and a good understanding of
how electric cars work. You’ll also have a better idea how the cars your less
budget conscious friends bought work and how to fix them. Make sure they treat
you to dinner—or spare parts. We’re sure you’ll have many projects surrounding your
new hobby-perhaps even selling some cars on your favored auction/social network
site.
Yes of course, sooner electric vehicles are going to be all around the world. Though these vehicles are little bit expensive but there are also lots of merits of these cars which completely satisfies the price. The budget minded individuals also accept it but they hesitate to spend. There is less maintenance so definitely it will have a high initial value. ReplyDeleteEveryone is conscious about their cars and to spend less money on it. Its a better idea the author has shared to use electric vehicles. Only while purchasing the car we have to pay for the registration. After using the car we have to pay for the maintenance. Normally these cars maintenance is of low price and reduces carbon monoxide gas. It is safe for environment also. I have a Volkswagen car which is running good and less fuel efficient. For my car service I prefer to go there as it is the best
