Developing Transit is a Priority for Portland-area transportation

The top priority for the resident and public officials in Greater Portland is to spread the public transport, which could regulate local transportation financing and planning. To reach this goal, the Greater Portland Council of Governments -a local planning agency- has setup an online survey for the residents to take, which would help them in lay outing a better plan on how to better transit and sort out on the use of limited funding.
The transportation director Sara Zografos at the agency said that the council has reached out to more than 700 residents to short out cities transportation priorities.  The whole point was to analyze city’s 20-year transportation plan, which need the most attentions and the limited funding. The discoveries affirmed what the organization authorities as of now thought – mass transit, pedestrian and cycling upgrades, progressed intersections, street maintenance and way better land use planning risen as the best five priorities. “This highlights again that transit is really important to the region and we have to do some thoughtful planning and investment to make a priority what we are being told is a priority,” Zografos said.
