Getting from point A to point B for most people usually means leaving your home and making a commute of some kind. Unfortunately, the current transportation systems bring a range of issues including global warming, environmental degradation, various health impacts, and emission of greenhouse gases. The burning of fossil fuels counts for 23% of the Earth’s greenhouse gas emissions. Road transportation accounts for 75% of the emissions. Over 90% of all road transportation relies on fossil fuel. This goes hand-in-hand with the total global oil consumption, which lands at 60%. All these scenarios have caught the eyes of world leaders and policies are being formulated to reverse this worrying trend of air pollution. Examples of green transportation include walking, biking, ride sharing, public transportation, hybrid vehicles, and electric vehicles. Using these can offer a variety of benefits. This takes form in rising land value, urban decongestion, social wellness, cleaner air, and assisting the aging population.
