Invasive plants have an adverse impact on Oregon’s water
quality, tree cover, fish, and wildlife. Not only does if affect our habitat, it comes with
high costs. “The Oregon Invasive Species Council estimates that invasive plants
cost the U.S. economy $120 billion dollars annually. ” These high costs get
passed down to you, the consumer. When
farmers have to pay to control these invasive plants, the consumer gets the
burden of that cost.
The city of Portland has an online poster with photos of invasive
plants and lists instructions for proper removal for each plant species.
