Branching out of our nation and looking abroad we
can begin to see how other nations are taking care of their environment in a
small scale. Looking at Central America, Guatemala to be more specific,
with the help of TechnoServe has begun to further develop these credits
into an economical outcome for all farmers.
In order to be able to trade these carbon dioxide
emission credit’s they are creating a baseline to be measured from, through
various mechanical instruments that range from greenhouse gases. Depending on
the periodic production of the crops they will be measured at the local site to
give some sort of creditable credit. These measurements of credit will become
increasable to economic stimulations such as bonds, guarantees, credit lines,
and above all funds.
This Guatemalan Coffee shop with the help of Ford
Foundation and a local organization, Fundacion Solar, are creating a
baseline for others to follow in a small scale with TechnoServe being the
pilot. Hoping to distribute this idea across El Salvador, Nicaragua, Panama,
and The U.S.
