They Fought for Our Country!! Now 1,300 Veterans are Homeless in Oregon
Driving down the road; and we see veterans on a regular basis; holding up signs asking for help. Veterans serve for this country; should never
fight for a place to lay their head. Nevertheless, displaced veterans constantly
struggle to stay alive in the United States. According, to the National
Database Oregon is the second largest state that has the utmost destitution
population. . It
is projected that there are over 1,300 homeless veterans in Oregon on any certain
night, and many more that are at risk of homelessness due to poverty, lack of
support networks and dismal living conditions. Most Veteran join the
service at the age of 18, therefore, they have no prior education, and work experience; except high
school. This is a long-term problem with civilization; specifically with the substantial
changes of our economy. Veterans need resources and positive support groups to survive in the real world. Many people that fight in war, also have some type of mental illness and is diagnosed with P.T.S.D which can come to a major struggle for them and make it complicated to maintain a job. This is the reason why it is crucial for our community to step up and help one another in distress. There are many resources that are available in which people might not be aware of this crucial information, but as a nation and community; we need to stand up and help one another. This can be done by donation, and veteran resources plus benefits.
