The Welcome Home Coalition Aims to Make Housing Affordable in Portland

The Welcome Home Coalition is a group aimed at helping to create more affordable housing for people in Portland who need it. Their mission is not only to create affordable housing but also to protect those who find this housing from losing it. They believe everyone should be entitled to safe and affordable living conditions for a good quality of life, and they strive to make that happen by coordinating public funding and resources to do so.
The Welcome Home Coalition holds strong the following values:

• Racial Equity
• Unity

It is important to the organization to make sure resources are being allocated responsibly to maximize the amount of good done to the community. The Welcome Home Coalition does not shy away from social issues such as classism or racism and instead aims to focus on the underlying issues that cause such disparities and aims to help resolve them by addressing the source of the problem. The Welcome Home Coalition offers increased opportunities to disparaged communities, such as refugees, immigrants, and people of color in order to address racial equity. Lastly, knowing that the combined efforts of people can be far more powerful than any one individual acting alone, The Welcome Home Coalition creates opportunities meant to be inclusive to those who aim to help support their cause, especially from those affected communities.
