The Holidays and Bombas

Around the beginning of November I began wondering why Bombas, a premium sock company based in the U.S., always advertised more publicly during the holidays. The company is primarily online based with a few retail outlets that also sell their products, but as more and more advertisements began to pop up throughout the following months I came to a realization.

Bombas was created as a give-back company that lives by the mantra "one purchased = one donated". For every pair of socks or shirt that Bombas sells, they donate one to community members in need, whether that be a homeless shelter or an at-risk-community, so far having donated over 28 million items of clothing. So why does it matter that they advertise more during the holidays? Doesn't everyone market more during this time? Well yes, but here's the catch; during the holidays or winter months new socks and other items of clothing are in higher demand than ever in homeless shelters across the united states, and so when a company like Bombas who donates new clothing to over 2,500 giving partners across the U.S. sells more socks during these months, they are also donating more items during these months. That's not all though, their entire marketing idea during the holidays plays on the idea that getting things like socks, underwear, and t-shirts for Christmas has always been popular, but if you buy Bombas for people you know during the holidays, you are also giving to someone else that needs those items as well.

Overall it's a pretty clever idea, and considering the amount of good Bombas has done for communities around the U.S. I couldn't imagine why anyone wouldn't want to buy their products, especially if they're as comfortable as they advertise. And for those interested, Bombas also offers partnership opportunities for organizations that give to those members of their community that are in need. They also work with organizations to orchestrate special events to engage in community giving.

For more information you can visit the Bombas Giving Back page on their website to find out more about local community partners or even how to become a community partner yourself.
