Have you noticed that in the last several weeks all sorts of beautiful spring time growth is happening around your neighborhood? Aside from front-yard gardens or raised beds on personal residential properties, Portland, Oregon is home to 50 community gardens where you can apply to use some space to grow your own little patch of flowers or edibles. With volunteer opportunities and a 'Produce for People' program, these gardens represent a great informal social asset that allows people to get to make new friends, strengthen community bonds and provide needed resources for low-income residents. There are five gardens accepting applications for gardening plots this spring so CLICK HERE see what they have available before it is too late!
