In an effort to quickly and effectively bring unhoused people into the safety of housing structures, The Housing Innovation Collaborative — a nonprofit organization based in Los Angeles — created and launched a public initiative to welcome ideas from around the globe for structures that can be designed, built, and operational in 90 days or less. With over 80 shelter designs as of June 2022, the range of options can be organized by multiple factors. including readiness (ready, nearly ready, prototype, or conceptual idea), shelter use, on-site assembly, and setup difficulty — making it an effective resource for quickly accessing and evaluating the suitability and effectiveness of potential shelter options.
