In 2008 director David Novack made Burning the Future: Coal in America, a documentary about the environmental and human health impacts that mountain top coal removal has on West Virginia.
The documentary discusses drinking and river water pollution, flooding, deforestation, the destruction of mountains, as well as the horrible health impacts on those that live near the coal mines. The documentary is about the people of West Virginia and their fight to preserve their mountains, their lives, and their way of life by taking on the coal industry.
The film is available through Netflix (disc only) and brings to light the struggle of those living in coal country.
