A Day At The Beach

SUMMER IS ALMOST HERE!!!

With summer right around the corner isn't it about time to plan your weekend away at the beach? For most of you a day at the beach includes food, drinks, games and of course a good swim. So you start packing up the vehicle with all of the essentials. Before long you realize that nearly everything you are bringing is petroleum based which we all know is harmful to the environment. 

First of all you bring a cooler, which, you guessed it is made out of plastic.

To make matters worse you fill this plastic container with more plastic!

Okay, so far we are not really helping the environment here.

Instead of using plastic bottles that go to the landfill, why not take glass bottles?

Even a small change such as moving from plastic to glass can make a significant impact on reducing our carbon footprint.

 Let's move on to a game that is beach friendly; surely there is a good game that you can take to the beach with you that isn't made from petroleum...

NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Most ladder golf games are made completely out of plastic which again is an oil based product. Maybe instead you could take some baseball mitts and play catch for awhile or throw the ol' pigskin around. Better yet, go for a swim or a walk on the beach. Neither of these activities require equipment that oil based.

Even a day at the beach makes a mark on our environment and it is important to be conscious of the things we take with us on our little beach trips. We all need to be mindful of the little things that we are not always as aware about and make decisions that better ourselves and better our world.
