Dead Zone!

When people think of dead zones they think of some weird thing and that it is caused by non human things, but we humans do cause it. A dead zone happens when less oxygen dissolved in the water because most marine life either dies, or, if they are mobile such as fish, leave the area.

Within our world today the last study was done in 2008 to count the amount of dead zones within our world. They counted a number of 405 dead zones worldwide. The most well known dead zone is that of the one that is in the Gulf Of Mexico. The dead zone is about 3,300 square miles. If you want a visual of that you would combine Delaware and Rhode Island, Then researchers anticipate it might becoming larger. There are other blog posts that go into detail about the dead zone in the gulf of mexico. The video will help you learn a little more about dead zones.
