In Kingston, Jamaica the government
is working on fuel diversification in order to fight climate change in the
country. Their focus is on the use of
renewable options that are sustainable, like the increased use of solar
energy—sunlight is in no short supply in Jamaica. They are also investigating the use of
waste-to-energy activity and hydropower.
These forms of renewable energy will cut down on air pollution as well
as their carbon footprint; which better complies with international conventions
on climate change.
Although the amount of cars in the
urban city is still an issue, this is something the government can actually
change. The abundance of trash is one of
the country’s confrontations to the environment, and investing in a way to turn
that into energy is a great step in the right direction. It’s honestly surprising more people don’t
embrace the use of solar power, bravo Kingston, bravo!
