National ban

We’re on our way as a nation! Because of the "Microbead Free Waters Act" approved in November, the United States may be able to ban the microbead all together.  According to the article below, the full ban would take effect beginning in 2018. Looks like the states that took action beforehand have pioneered the way for entire country to ban the bead!

This is a good resource for companies that have already started to help out the fight against microbeads. As of this year, Unilever products have phased out the plastic in their brands. (Dove, Caress, Clear, Noxzema, Pond’s, Vaseline, Suave, Lever 2000, Simple, and St. Ives). Additionally some P&G brands (Ivory, Pantene, Secret, and SK-II) are currently without microbeads.

Let’s hope that the United States, as well as other nations continue the fight to put an end to the microbead contamination, and let’s support the companies currently doing their part.
